Fair
Saturday 29 May 2010
The annual St Dominic’s Priory Fair takes place in May. The Priory Fair, always well organized and well run, is quite an institution in and around Port Elizabeth and has been taking place for over 25 years.
The fair has grown over the years and is much anticipated by the people of Port Elizabeth for the wonderful atmosphere as well as all the stalls and activities available. What a great way to spend your Saturday, out in the open having fun with your family.
There is much on offer from wonderful breakfast bacon and egg rolls in the early morning as well as many other foods stalls to keep the hunger pangs at bay during the rest of the day these include the highly recommended and sought after pancakes (with cinnamon or caramel), calamari and chips, hamburgers and hotdogs, boerewors rolls and don’t forget the cakes and sweets – but get there early as these sell out!
There are games to play, fun fair rides, quad bikes and arena activities to watch and take part in. Remember to look out for the old favorites like Tombola; White Elephant and Books as well as some new ones such as Lucky Dip, Crafty Creations, the Kiddies Corner and Gorgeous Helium filled Balloons!
You can take a break in the relaxing tea garden and enjoy scones with jam and cream or a toasted sandwich. The day ends with a spit braai in the beer tent , where large TV’s are provided so Dad’s don’t miss the rugby!
All the money raised at the Fair is used by the PTA – and normally goes towards much needed buildings. Previously Fair funds have been used to renovate, enlarge and upgrade the swimming pool, build the toilets and change rooms on the sports fields, and 2009's proceeds went towards the seating area and change room facility at the swimming pool.
There is something for everyone and you are sure to have a fun filled day.
The action starts at 9am and continues until late in the night. So make a date and spend your day in the beautiful grounds of St Dominic’s Priory
See You There!!
