Be the change you want to see in the world. ~Mahatma Ghandi
Each year, the Enviro Club expands due to popular and exciting activities. We currently have two teachers in charge, Dr du Preez (biology teacher) and Dr Vogts (Science teacher) and four committee members in various grades.
Activities:
The club is very involved in Animal Welfare and is constantly collecting dog and cat food. We deliver the food once a term and make the animals’ day by not only giving them food but also by taking them for walks around the property to stretch their legs and have some fun.
Beach clean-ups are carried out by the Enviro Club once a term where we gather at Schoenies equipped with black bags and plastic gloves. All litter and glass is picked up in the area and some educational information of the surrounding animal and plant life is provided to us by the teachers.
A new project is underway this year. Saplings from plant cuttings are going to be planted and regularly maintained in a portion of the school property. This project is to be held in order to maintain and stop soil erosion.
Visiting game parks is a highlight for the club. Once a term, a school bus is taken to a game or wildlife park where we spend the day learning about the fauna and flora of the surrounding area. We aim to visit the following game parks during the year:
- Seaview Game Park
- African Dawn
- Shamwari game Park
Going Green is our passion and we call for all recycling items such as paper and plastic bottles. Please send them to school for recycling.
Much fun is had by all as we work our way towards a better environment.
