UNDER 13 SOCCER

The U/13 A soccer team had a season of mixed fortunes. Although they lost most of their matches, they managed a fantastic win against Greenwood and a draw against Sydenham.

Three of the team members were selected to represent The Port Elizabeth Schools Soccer Team at the Bill Stewart Tournament in Johannesburg.

Ebo Asmah-Andoh and Warrick Shimmings played for the B team. Warrick was selected as man-of-the-match in 2 of their 13 matches. In previous years the B team never managed to end better than last place. However, this year they came 9th out of 14 teams which was a fantastic achievement.

Marcel Lück was selected for the A team as striker and he managed to score 13 goals in the tournament. He was selected as man-of-the-match in 3 of his 13 matches. At the end of the tournament 9 boys were identified as outstanding players, of which Marcel was one. Considering that there were 210 boys that took part in this event, this is an outstanding achievement.

UNDER 11 SOCCER

This season’s under 11 team was a team to be reckoned with. They never lost a single match in the league and their only loss of the season was a very closely contested match against Selborne, which they eventually lost 2-1. These boys know what a team sport is all about and their positive attitude and hard work on the field was the recipe for their success. There is no doubt that a few members of this team will make it into the PEPSSA soccer team next year.

UNDER 9 SOCCER

The U/9 soccer boys had an awesome season this year. We played our first tournament at Parsons Hill Primary where the boys ended up being the undefeated champions. This was only the start of what was to happen during the season. We played  11 games during the season with the u/9A boys once again being undefeated, a really great achievement.

The u/9 B boys had a more challenging  season losing  4 matches, but if you take into consideration that  they played against some of the other schools’ A sides, I think they did very well.

To single out certain players would be wrong , as I think that as a group they performed well. I want to thank all the coaches and wish the boys well for next year as they will have to compete for a spot in the u/11 side.
