Tennis continues to develop at St Dominic’s Priory with children participating enthusiastically from Grade 3 to Grade 7.

In our ongoing efforts to improve tennis at the school, Ms Yvonne Vermaak and her colleague Ms Mandy Hobson, both professional tennis coaches, are employed to coach twelve children who are selected because they show a natural aptitude for the game.  These children attend our pre-squad group on a Monday.  The aim of working with this smaller group is to build our future tennis teams.  Already the project is bearing fruit with at least eight of our current squad players being products of this pre-squad group. 

In the summer we play in a boys league and a girls league.  Our girls team did extremely well to remain unbeaten in the first term of the season.  Our winter league is a mixed league and the children enjoy the challenge of being partnered with someone different.  Our tennis squad has shown commitment, enthusiasm and good sportsmanship in both our wins and losses to different schools throughout the year.  They are to be commended on their excellent attitudes and behaviour.

Our Inter-house tennis was played in the second term.  Rosary come first overall, Marcellin second and Trinity third.  

We look forward to another year of excellent tennis in 2010.
