Pretty in Pink... Happy Priory pupils enjoy the start of 2010

2010 started with a bang as 57 eager children joined the St Dominic’s Priory family in Pre-Grade R... Keen to see what adventures lay ahead of them, the boys and girls met their teachers Mrs Margie Stephens and Ms Megan Jacobs, for the first time.

Bustling with excitement, the Priory Pre-Primary is full of life and, kitted in their new, pretty pink t-shirts, the girls look very smart as they arrive each morning. Mrs Karen Ashworth, HOD of the Pre-school, mentioned, “We've just introduced pink t-shirts for the girls which has been met with great enthusiasm.  The children’s uniforms consist of different colour t-shirts.  Priory Pre-School is a happy, loving environment.  We strive to provide a high standard of education. All our teachers have great passion for their jobs.”

With the current water restrictions in place in the city, the Priory pupils are made aware each day of ways they can save water. Matthew in Grade R said, “I use my bathwater to take care of the plants because Priory must always be beautiful.”

Every day in Pre-Primary is jam-packed, and the boys and girls are kept very busy with exciting activities. Every Monday begins with assembly, and when our principal, Mr Beadon, pops in he is greeted with hugs from the children. Other activities include:

Monday:  Ballet, Tennis, Clay Play, Pee Wees Hockey

Tuesday:  Modern Dance, Band/Chess (1 week band the next week chess)

Wednesday:  Jungle Gym, Ball Skills

Thursday:  Action Ball

Friday:  ABC Music, Pee Wees Hockey

No more can be said about the children’s love for their new school, although Jenna, in Grade R, also added, “The thing I love most about Priory is that we all love Jesus.  Priory is about loving and caring.”

Children at Priory are encouraged to learn to work together as a team, carrying across our school ethos, Veritas (truth), each day as they interact with one another. In the second month of the year, it is evident that, at Priory, 2010 is going to be a great year!
